Beach Accessibility
South Padre Island beaches have been declared the most accessible in Texas. Amphibious mobi-chairs are available free of charge from the SPI Fire Department at (956) 761-3040. Twelve of 24 beach accesses feature mobi-mats for firm, stable pathways to the sand.
Free public transit (Island Metro and the WAVE) is fully ADA accessible with wheelchair lifts and paratransit service.
